Stephenie Meyer‘s second book installment after TWILIGHT, THE HOST, is also getting a film adaptation coming out in 2013. The first full trailer is hitting theaters today along with BREAKING DAWN PART 2, and no, there aren’t any vampires in it. This is the film synopsis:
“A parasitic alien soul is injected into the body of Melanie Stryder. Instead of carrying out her race’s mission of taking over the Earth, “Wanda” (as she comes to be called) forms a bond with her host and sets out to aid other free humans.”
There are two factors that have me curious about this film. One: Saoirse Ronan. If you haven’t seen in her in HANNA, you have missed a 16 years old girl totally believable as an action star in an absolutely outstanding film (and its soundtrack by The Chemical Brothers is incredible as well). Just check out the trailer for it here:
Two: The film is going to be directed and adapted to the screen by Andrew Niccol. He’s responsible for amazing features like THE TRUMAN SHOW and GATTACA.
The TWILIGHT franchise can be incredibly polarizing, and even as this book is not related to it, the trailer for its film adaptation might have some mixed reactions as well.
What are your thoughts about this trailer?
